Welcome to my mobile office. After a stormy night last night in which the electricity must’ve gone off 20 times, at 10am this morning it went totally DEAD, here in the sleepy village of WARK.

Off I went to Hollyberry Cottage in Bellingham as my backup plan and less than an hour’s work later the electricity THERE went awol.

It’s now nearly tea-time (to use an old-fashioned phrase) and I’m still sitting here in my makeshift mobile office at the top of the hill, just outside of Wark. I have broadband, my laptop, phone… everything you need apart from SPACE.  A brief detour a little while ago showed still no power back home… whoever is in charge of the electricity here nowadays needs stoning for this – completely unacceptable in the 21st century. If they’d put the wires underground instead of having them dandling around in the air I’ve no doubt this would not be happening. The weather is not as cold as it’s been which might seem like a blessing – but in reality it means the contents of the fridge and freezer will be useless before long…

Meanwhile the local farm is still dishing out its share of mud. I wrote (and no doubt others did) to the local landlord (Nick Ridley) about this very subject but to date no reply….

All we need now is a bolt of lightning to take out the roof – couldn’t ask for more…

After MANY months of hard graft, our new holiday rental in Bellingham – Hollyberry Cottage – will be open for business from the beginning of October. Apologies to friends who might already know this but getting hooks into Google on a new site is MUCH harder than with existing sites- so I figured I’d give us a head start here.
